hunter education

In New York State a Hunter Education course is required for learning the necessary safety techniques and responsibilities as a hunter when using a gun, muzzleloader, crossbow, bow or traps to pursue wild game.

Additional requirements for bowhunting big game: If hunting deer or bear with a bow, you must also take a Bow Hunter Education course.

The Niagara County Federation of Conservation Clubs assists the NYS DEC with Hunter Education by:

1.    Hosting the Hunter Education refresher course for instructors.

2.    Scheduling the training course for those individuals looking to become instructors for both Gun and Bow.

3.    Coordinating the distribution of Hunter Education Materials to instructors.
