Warford encourages activism at EDC second quarterly luncheon

Ocala/Marion EDC

Marion County Public Schools Superintendent Jim Warford told 285 listeners at the Spring EDC Quarterly luncheon it is time for action rather than blame regarding educational reform.
"We need to stop trying to affix blame and start trying to solve the problems," said Warford.

Calling Marion County a unique place blessed by a core of caring and committed citizens, Warford acknowledged the need for stronger connections between the school system and community. He emphasized the role of accountability in measuring academic success through joint efforts between MCPS and business and industry. Warford also recognized efforts made by the EDC in bringing an awareness of issues relating to workforce development.

The superintendent stated he is developing a plan of action and is proud to be a part of the Business-Education Alliance initiative in implementing community-driven educational reform.
"I believe great things are possible," noted Warford. "Together, we can create great solutions."
