PUTNAM
COUNTY
Fall has arrived in Putnam County. Yard sales, festivals, book sales
and a millennium time capsule celebration are all on the agenda
for this weekend.
And it's just the beginning of some of the busiest months in the
county.
Among events scheduled in the area are:
FRIDAY
Crescent City
Crescent City Jr.-Sr. High School celebrates its Homecoming tonight,
ending a week of school spirit activities. The Raiders will play
cross-county rival, the Interlachen High School Rams. If you have
not guessed CCHS's homecoming theme, it will come as no surprise
"Jam the Rams."
Watch out Raiders, Interlachen will have its turn. Game time at
Wilcher Stadium is 7:30 p.m.
Palatka
Friends of the Ravines Gift Shop reopens Friday. Hours of operation
are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
The shop is at the entrance to Ravine Gardens State Park, 1600 Twigg
St., Palatka, and includes items by local artists.
Musical Theater Ensemble at Florida School of the Arts offers free
performances of their 30-minute, family-friendly show. Times are
4:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Reservations are necessary. For details,

FRIDAY-SATURDAY
Bostwick
The Bostwick Library continues its gigantic book sale from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Old Bostwick School House,
125 Tillman St. A large selection of hardback and paperback books
are available, including novels, non-fiction, mysteries, Westerns,
romances and how-to books about crafts, cooking and gardening. For

Saturday
Bardin
Thesta Knowles Shell Day includes a barbecue cookout and a giant
yard sale. The yard sale begins at 8 a.m. and the dinners will be
available at 11. Profits go to help defray medical expenses for
three operations needed by Shell, a longtime resident.
The event will be in a field off of Bardin Road (County Road 309D),
near Bud's Grocery.
Crescent
City
Fall Community Yard Sale by the GFWC South Putnam Woman's Club will
be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday at Eva Lyons Park in Crescent
City. For details, call Terry Haire at 698-2847.
Blast of Grass will be in concert at Eva Lyons Park at 6:30 p.m.
The first of the fall concerts presented by the Arts Council of
Palatka, the performance is free.
HASTINGS
Putnam County Chapter of American Bikers Aiming Towards Education
will sponsor a motorcycle-run Lost Brothers and Sisters beginning
at 9 a.m. Saturday with a free breakfast. Cost is $5 and the event
begins in Hastings. For details, call 692-2327.
HAWTHORNE
Hawthorne Woman's Club, one block from City Hall, will be holding
their annual Yard Sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. There will
be home-baked goods, hot dogs, soft drinks and whole pies for sale.
INTERLACHEN.
Residents can stop by two big yard sales. One is at State Road 20
and County Road 315, with proceeds benefiting the Interlachen High
School Band. The second is at St. John Catholic Church, also off
SR 20.
PALATKA
8th International Rosary March
St. Monica Catholic Church celebrates the 8th International Rosary
March beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the church at 114 S. Fourth
St., Palatka.
Our Lady of Fatima image will be carried in procession outside,
weather permitting. Rosary and hymns will be included in the procession
and prayers will be offered for victims and families of the recent
terrorist attacks.

22nd annual Rod Run Car Show, hosted by the Azalea City Cruisers,
will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday in downtown Palatka. The event will
feature antique and classic automobiles. For details, call 325-4881.
The Putnam County Health Department is holding a yard sale to benefit
the Client Health Trust Fund, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, in their
parking lot, 2801 Kennedy Road.
Food items will also be available for purchase. For details, call

POMONA
PARK
The Pomona Park Beautification Committee will host its fifth annual
Everybody's Having a Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at
Morgan Park, Cow Catcher Park and individual yards in Pomona Park.

SALT
SPRINGS
The 14th Annual Salt Springs Festival is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
at the ball field on County Road 316 at the Civic Center. Arts,
crafts and food booths will be available. For details, call Kathy

SATURDAY
AND SUNDAY
PALATKA
Palatka Railfest - Railrodeo, Railroadiana Sale & Show will
be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Union Railroad
Depot and Price-Martin Center, N. 11th Street, Palatka.
The Railrodeo at the train depot features "the world's largest
mobile scale model railroad" as it was called in 1975 when
it began touring the U.S. A Railroadiana Sale and Show will tempt
train lovers at the Price-Martin Center to buy railroad memorabilia
from vendors. Six certified Operation Life Savers will be on hand
to explain their rail grade crossing safety program through presentations
and videos.

SUNDAY
LAKE COMO
The Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 4355, 110 Shrine Drive, Lake Como,
is holding a benefit for victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The event begins at 2 p.m. Sunday and will feature karaoke by Jim
Smith. Participants should bring a covered dish. Dinners will be
sold for donations and all proceeds will go the American Red Cross
Disaster Relief Fund. For details, call 649-5033.
MELROSE
Millennium Time Capsule ceremonies will be held at the Melrose Public
Library from 3-5 p.m. Sunday.
Judge Patti Christensen, past president of Historic Melrose Inc.,
will be the featured speaker and Dr. Mark Barrow will be master
of ceremonies.
There will be entertainment and refreshments.
PALATKA
Boy Scout Troop No. 148 will hold Sunday Brunch from 10 a.m. to
1 p.m. Sunday at the Moose Lodge, 1050 S. Highway 19 in Palatka.
Cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children. Proceeds will benefit
the families of firefighters and officers who lost their lives during
terrorist attacks on Sept. 11 at the World Trade Center in New York.
