Master
Tree Farm program planned

presentation will be presented
The
Levy County Cooperative Extension office is offering, in conjunction
with the Gilchrist and Dixie County Extension offices, a Region
Master Tree Farming Program.
Forest
land owners and others interested in forest management are invited
to participate in a video presentation of a forestry short course
this fall.
Video
recordings of the course, entitled "Master Tree Farmer 2001", will
be presented every Tuesday evening, 6 - 9 p.m., beginning Oct. 2
and ending Nov. 13, at Fanning Springs. (Facility to be announced.)
The
course will introduce land owners to stewardship concepts, best
management practices for protecting the environment, planning for
objectives and services and assistance available for managing forest
land. The program will involve state, regional and national experts
on a variety of topics. Each, two-and-a-half to three hour session
will involve topics ranging from an introduction to forest mangement
and forestry concepts to pine/hardwood management, wildlife management
and selling and harvesting timber. Others topics include forestry
finance, taxation, estate planning and forestry services available
for the land owner.
A maximum
of 25 attendees can be enrolled. A minimum of 15 is required. If
minimum registration is not met, registration fees will be refunded.
All registrations and checks must be received no later than Sept.
3. No late registrations will be accepted.
The
cost of the course is, $50 and $10 per spouse sharing materials.
