Fall
festivals set at school all over Bradford County

Elementary
schools all over the county have set their fall festivals in coming
weeks and, in each case, the money raised will be used to fund projects
of the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). PTO projects vary from school
to school, but are always aimed at improving the educational experience
of local students.
Lawtey, Brooker, Hampton and Southside have all set their fall festivals
on Saturday, Oct. 20. Starke Elementary has set its fall festival
on Friday, Oct. 19, and the RJE Center has set a mini fall festival
for the morning of Friday, Oct. 26.
Starke
Elementary
The
fall festival begins Friday, Oct. 19, at 5:30 p.m. on the school
grounds on CR-229 (West Weldon Street) in Starke. The festival will
last until 8:30 p.m.
Starke's
festival will include a cake walk, haunted house, country store,
"go fish" game, bowling, race car games and more. Hamburgers
and hot dogs will be sold for hungry kids and parents.

Brooker Elementary
Brooker's
fall festival will begin with a parade at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday,
Oct. 20, at the school on CR-18. The festival will begin at 5 p.m.
on school grounds.
A chicken
and rice dinner will be sold for $5. The dinner will include green
beans, roll and cake.
The
games and entertainment will include a cake walk, bingo games with
"great" prizes, a haunted house and a wide variety of
other activities. A greased pig contest will be held at 5:30 and
7 p.m.
A number
of drawings will have people purchasing tickets and possibly winning
a shotgun, $200 cash or a shopping spree, a DVD player, a red and
blue star afghan and a set of four Disney tickets.

Hampton Elementary
Hampton's
fall festival is set for Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5-9 p.m. at the
school on CR-221 near Hampton.
Planned
for the event are a cake walk, moonwalk, hayride, haunted house,
country store and many other games.
A number
of food items will also be available for purchase.
Tickets
will be sold for drawings for a $100 gift certificate to Toys 'R
Us, a $100 gift certificate to Wal-Mart, a gas fish fryer and a
20-inch gold chain.

Lawtey Community
Lawtey
has set its fall festival Saturday, Oct. 20, from 4-8 p.m. on the
school grounds off US-301 in Lawtey.
A fish
fry with all the fixings will cost $5 and concessions of hamburgers,
hot dogs and candy apples will also be available.
The
Lawtey fall festival will have a wide variety of games and booths
for the children. There will also be a moonwalk, pony rides and
bingo games with a lot of very nice prizes.
Drawings
will be held for a DVD player, a handmade quilt and two lighted
yard art sculptures - one dolphin and one gator.

Southside Elementary
Southside's
fall festival is also Saturday, Oct. 20, and has been set from 5-8
p.m. on school grounds on Stansberry Street (off Colley Road) in
Starke.
It
will include a haunted house, moonwalk, duck pond, animal walk,
cake walk and many other activities.
A fried
chicken dinner with all the fixings will be sold for $4.25 for adults
and $2.75 for children.
Also
available will be cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones and other treats.
Drawings
at Southside will include a 50-50 drawing where the winner will
receive half the cash collected. Another drawing will see the winner
take home four tickets good for any one day in any Disney theme
park. Other drawing prizes will also be available.

RJE Center
The
RJE Center will not hold a fall festival in the same vein as the
other schools, but on Friday, Oct. 26, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. the
prekindergarten center on Pine Street in Starke will hold a special
event with an island theme.
Hawaiian
shirts and hula skirts will likely be seen as the preschoolers participate
in games, sing songs and have a special lunch.
