  1. Why is good air transportation important?
  2. Why is the Gainesville Regional Airport not working?
  3. Shouldn't the "Airport Authority" decide on the establishment and location of a new airport?

1. Why is good air transportation important?
The importance of air transportation has and will continue to increase in importance in today's world economy. A vibrant airport is much more than "air transportation" it is arguably the single most important factor in a regions economy. A direct correlation is derived from availability of access to air service and economic vitality. In the past air service was a convenience, today it is the heart of a regions economic system!

2. Why is the Gainesville Regional Airport not working?
Over the past 17 years, the number of individuals flying in and out of GRA has increased by a mere 6.5 percent. During the same time, the population of Alachua County has increased by 44 percent and air travel has increased nationwide by 37 percent just over the past ten years. Most everybody that is using the airport has been inconvenienced by a lack of choice, canceled flights, and high prices.

3. Shouldn't the "Airport Authority" decide on the establishment and location of a new airport?
Absolutely not. Local airport authorities simply act as operations managers for any one particular facility. They are appointed individuals acting on behalf of the general public. The public consumer (you and me) decides where and when a new airport should be established. Airports are a public service meant to serve the entire regional population not a small select group. Airport authorities are notorious for protecting their "political turf". This creates a significant denigration of service and polarizes cooperation within the service region. Let your designated state legislative representative know your position on this subject.
